ArtaMag: An Advanced Solution for Airborne Magnetic Surveys

ArtaMag is a knowledge-based airborne magnetometer system developed by Fannavarane Madar Pardaz Arta Novin for fast and accurate magnetic surveying with UAVs. Designed for large, difficult-to-access, or unsafe areas, the system has reached Technology Readiness Level 8 (TRL 8).

How Does ArtaMag Work?

During flight, a smart retractable mechanism moves the three-axis fluxgate sensors away from the UAV body. This separation significantly reduces magnetic interference from motors, power cables, and onboard electronics, while allowing safe takeoff and landing.

ArtaMag operates independently from the aircraft and integrates GPS, IMU, onboard memory, and wireless communication. Magnetic and positioning data are recorded simultaneously, stored locally, and transmitted to the ground station in real time.

Data Processing with PRISMAG

PRISMAG software provides live data monitoring, quality control, geophysical filtering, and two- and three-dimensional visualization. Survey results can be exported in CSV, KML, and PDF formats for further interpretation and reporting.
